Vitamin K2 tablets: For maintaining bones - especially for the 40+ generation
Humans are made up of over 200 individual bones, ranging from a few millimetres to half a meter in length. Reason enough to take care of your bones - especially when it comes to osteoporosis, arthritis and arthrosis. The 40+ generation is particularly affected when it comes to initial bone complaints.
The vegan VITAMIN K2 200 µg tablets from the Vitactiv brand contain the bioactive all-trans MK-7 form of vitamin K2 to maintain bones*. This form of K2 is optimally absorbed by the body and is available for a long time as it is only broken down slowly.
Scientific studies show impressive results - with regard to an increase in bone density and a reduction in the risk of bone fractures.** The K2 vitamin also contributes to normal blood clotting.* It is best to order vitamin K2 now - premium quality from the Feelgood Shop!
Bone resorption from the age of 40
Did you know that from the age of 40, bone resorption processes predominantly take place in the human body? Normally, bone mass decreases by around 1 % each year. This is one of the reasons why most people over the age of 50 develop osteoporosis.
What is osteoporosis?
Bone complaints are on the increase in society - including osteoporosis (bone loss). It is a chronic disease. Here, the natural bone metabolism is disturbed so that the bone mass decreases disproportionately. The skeleton becomes increasingly porous and unstable - the risk of bone fractures increases.
In Germany, around 7.8 million people are affected by osteoporosis. Every year, around 300,000 osteoporosis-related femoral neck fractures alone are registered.
Your bones need vitamin K2
Osteoporosis patients are often severely deficient in vitamin K2. However, the widespread vitamin K2 deficiency only becomes noticeable in the long term. At an advanced age, many complaints occur in the bone area. Vitamin K2 as a dietary supplement can help here and contributes to the maintenance of normal bones*.

Vitamin K2 directs calcium into all bones
Calcium is considered the most important mineral for maintaining normal bones. And although the consumption of calcium products is increasing in Europe, more and more older people are suffering from bone problems. Why? Because they often lack vitamin K2, which can ensure that calcium actually ends up in the bones. Otherwise, the calcium remains in the blood vessels and soft tissues of our body and, in the worst case, leads to arteriosclerosis.
It used to be assumed that the function of vitamin K was limited to its central role in blood clotting. However, according to recent research findings, vitamin K2 is significantly involved in the way in which the human body stores and uses calcium. This occurs through the activation of certain proteins that "properly deposit" the calcium in our bones and thus simultaneously prevent the calcium from being deposited unhealthily in the blood vessels.
The so-called "Rotterdam Study" was able to show that a high intake of vitamin K2 has a strong influence on cardiovascular health.
(Source: Iribarren C, Sidney S, Sternfeld B, Browner WS. Calcification of the aortic arch: risk factors and association with coronary heart disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease. JAMA. 2000;283(21):2810-5.)
**Study "Risk reduction of bone fractures"
A review study comprising 13 different studies confirmed the following results: Vitamin K2 supplementation (15-45 mg MK-4 per day) significantly reduces the risk of bone fractures: for vertebral fractures by 60%, for hip fractures by 77% and for other fractures by 81%.
(Cockayne S, Adamson J, Lanham-New S, Shearer MJ, Gilbody S, Torgerson DJ (2006): Vitamin K and the prevention of fractures: systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials. Arch Intern Med; 166: 1256-1261).
**Study "Improvement of bone density"
In another study, a dietary supplement containing 100 µg vitamin K2, 1600 I.U. vitamin D3 and 756 mg calcium was administered over a period of 6 months. This resulted in a significant improvement in bone density.
(Michalek JE, Preuss HG, Croft HA, Keith PL, Keith SC, Dapilmoto M, Perricone NV, Leckie RB, Kaats GR (2011): Changes in total body bone mineral density following a common bone health plan with two versions of a unique bone health supplement: a comparative effectiveness research study. Nutr J; 10: 32).
Advantageous: The longer-term intake of vitamin K
In summary, the scientists describe the study results as confirmation of the hypothesis that long-term intake of vitamin K2 significantly reduces the age-related loss of bone mass and thus leads to an improvement in bone strength.
Do you always have to take vitamin K2 together with vitamin D3?
Not necessarily. But it does have one major advantage. Vitamin D3 is partly responsible for the formation of the protein osteocalcin. Vitamin K2 is necessary to activate the osteocalcin protein. This is because only K2-activated osteocalcin can bind calcium in the body and thus play an important role in maintaining bones. If you are already taking vitamin D3, vitamin K2 is therefore an excellent supplement.
**Study "Vitamin K2 plus vitamin D3"
The joint administration of vitamins K2 and D3 has been tested in various studies with regard to bone density:
In a 12-month study, the daily intake of 800 mg calcium and 400 I.U. (10 µg) vitamin D3 as a dietary supplement showed positive results on the bone density of postmenopausal women. If 100 µg of vitamin K was added to calcium and vitamin D3, the result was even more pronounced! Vitamin K was found to increase bone density in the lumbar vertebrae.
(Kanellakis S, Moschonis G, Tenta R, Schaafsma A, van den Heuvel EG, Papaioannou N, Lyritis G, Manios Y (2012): Changes in parameters of bone metabolism in postmenopausal women following a 12-month intervention period using dairy products enriched with calcium, vitamin D, and phylloquinone (vitamin K(1)) or menaquinone-7 (vitamin K (2)): the Postmenopausal Health Study II. Calcif Tissue Int; 90(4): 251-262).
Vitamin K2 also contributes to the normalization of blood clotting
In the human body there should always be a balance between hemostasis and anticoagulation. This balance can be achieved with vitamin K2 - because it contributes to normal blood clotting*.

How does a vitamin K2 deficiency manifest itself?
A vitamin K2 deficiency can manifest itself in various ways, as this vitamin plays a role in blood clotting and bone maintenance. Here are some symptoms and signs that may indicate a vitamin K2 deficiency:
- Increased bleeding: Light bleeding and bruising, frequent nosebleeds, bleeding gums or excessive menstrual bleeding.
- Slow wound healing: delayed clotting and healing of cuts or wounds.
- Reduced bone material density: with an increased risk of osteoporosis and bone fractures.
- Dental problems: problems with gums and teeth, e.g. gingivitis or tooth loss.
- Calcification of soft tissue: Increased risk of hardening of the arteries (arteriosclerosis), which can lead to cardiovascular disease.
- Joint problems: pain and stiffness in the joints due to calcium deposits.
Of course, we cannot and do not want to replace medical advice here. The symptoms mentioned can also have other causes. If you identify any health problems, you should definitely consult a doctor.
Can the body produce vitamin K2 itself?
The human body has the ability to produce a certain amount of vitamin K2 itself, but this happens to a very limited extent. Some bacteria in the gut - especially in the large intestine - can produce K2. This happens through fermentation and metabolic processes of these microorganisms.
Essentially, however, you need to take in vitamin K2 through your diet to replenish your stores and ensure you have a sufficient supply.
Where is there a lot of vitamin K2?
Vitamin K2 is found in a variety of foods, both animal and fermented plant products. The following animal foods contain K2:
- Liver: Poultry liver in particular contains high amounts of vitamin K2.
- Eggs: Egg yolk in particular is a good source of vitamin K2.
- Cheese: Fermented cheeses such as Gouda, Brie and Edam contain significant amounts of vitamin K2.
- Butter: Butter from grass-fed cows in particular contains more vitamin K2.
- Chicken: Chicken meat, especially chicken breast and thighs, contains moderate amounts of vitamin K2.
And here is an overview of fermented plant products:
- Natto: A traditional Japanese dish made from fermented soybeans that is particularly rich in vitamin K2 (MK-7).
- Sauerkraut: Fermented cabbage is a good source of vitamin K2, although in smaller quantities than natto.
- Miso: A fermented paste made from soybeans that is often used in Japanese cuisine.
- Kimchi: A Korean dish of fermented vegetables that may also contain some vitamin K2.
If you think that you are not getting enough vitamin K2 from your diet, you can also supplement your diet with a Vitamink2 supplement. As a general rule, however, a dietary supplement should not be a substitute for a healthy and varied diet.
Vitamin K2 as a dietary supplement - what dosage forms are available?
Vitamin K2 can be purchased as capsules, tablets or in liquid form as drops. VITAMIN K2 from Vitactiv offers you high-dose vitamin K2 tablets with the most bioactive and stable form of the vitamin.
