Omega 3 algae oil capsules - not just a good choice for vegans
With OMEGA 3 ALGA OIL capsules from the Vitactiv brand, you can easily cover your omega-3 fatty acid requirements in a plant-based way with just 2 capsules a day - thanks to natural DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) from the high-quality oil of the microalgae Schizochytrium. Good for the brain, heart and eyes!
The softgel capsules are pleasant to use, easy to swallow and have no fishy taste, as you might expect from fish oil.
Use pure, vegan DHA- and EPA-rich omega 3 from the original source "algae".
What is omega 3 good for?
Here are a few basics for you: Omega 3 is one of the "good" fats, as it contains polyunsaturated fatty acids. These are vital for us humans. They are needed for numerous processes in the body - especially for brain function, vision and heart health*.
The special thing about omega-3 fatty acids for health support are their most active forms:
- DHA (docosahexaenoic acid)
- EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid)
Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) is also an omega-3 fatty acid. However, it still has to be converted into DHA and EPA in the body.
Omega 3 vegan - what options are there?
In general, omega-3 fatty acids cannot be produced by the body itself, i.e. we should take them in regularly through our diet. The best source of omega-3 is fish, but many of us do not eat fish regularly or generally follow a vegetarian or vegan diet. Good plant-based sources of omega-3 include linseed oil, flaxseed and chia seeds, as well as walnuts and walnut oil.
So can you still meet your omega-3 requirements as a vegan or vegetarian through your daily diet? In principle, you could if you can ensure that you eat these omega-3-rich foods every day and in sufficient quantities.
A simpler and practical alternative solution is our vegan algae oil capsules from Vitactiv.
The dangerous imbalance between omega 6 and omega 3
Nature tells us through our mother's milk what ratio of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids we should consume. A value of 2:1 is considered optimal, i.e. two parts omega 6 and one part omega 3.
Nowadays, however, people sometimes consume omega fatty acids in a ratio of 15:1 or even up to 20:1 - i.e. far too little omega 3! The reasons for this are, for example, the much higher consumption of meat than fish and the consumption of ready-made products instead of fresh food. But even with "inferior" vegetable oils you cannot cover your daily requirement. Even the more expensive olive oil and safflower oil contain hardly any omega-3 fatty acids worth mentioning.
Our vegan capsules made from high-quality algae oil contain a particularly high proportion of DHA.
Recognizing an omega-3 deficiency
An omega-3 deficiency can manifest itself in reduced brain performance, including in the form of concentration problems.
Other symptoms may include
- Poor eyesight or dry, irritated eyes
- Tiredness and exhaustion
- Cardiovascular problems such as high blood pressure
- Dry or blemished skin
- muscle weakness
The DGE (German Nutrition Society) states:
"Unsaturated fatty acids have predominantly positive effects on the body such as lowering cholesterol levels, regulating blood pressure, influencing the immune system and inflammatory reactions. ... This can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease."1
Omega 3 capsules vegan - good for health and the environment
Our omega 3 comes from the microalgae Schizochytrium - because did you know that the actual origin of DHA and EPA omega-3 fatty acids lies precisely in these marine algae and not in the fish themselves? DHA and EPA are only absorbed by fish in the form of algae and stored in their fatty tissue. So why shouldn't we also get the benefits directly from the algae?
Environmentally friendly, sustainable and safely grown without harmful substances in simulated seawater cultures - this natural form of cultivation does not pollute the marine ecosystem and protects fish stocks. Our high-quality algae oil is then obtained using a gentle extraction process.
OMEGA 3 ALGAE OIL capsules from Vitactiv - an environmentally friendly alternative not only for vegans and vegetarians.
Are you going to be a mom? The importance of omega 3 algae oil for pregnancy & baby
An additional omega-3 intake can also be important for expectant mothers, as docosahexaenoic acid supports the normal development of the unborn child's eyes and brain.* This also applies to babies who are currently being breastfed. Pregnant or breastfeeding women are advised to take 200 milligrams of DHA per day in addition to the recommended DHA and EPA intake of 250 milligrams.*
By the way: one of the most important vitamins for expectant mothers is folic acid. You want to get pregnant or are expecting a baby? Great! You can find our optimally dosed folic acid tablets in a practical three-month supply here.

Is omega-3 from fish oil or algae oil better?
Omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil or algae oil both have advantages and disadvantages. Fish oil sometimes contains higher concentrations of omega-3, but can contain harmful substances such as heavy metals if it has not been sufficiently purified.
Omega 3 algae oil is produced from microalgae under controlled conditions and is therefore free from harmful substances and also ideal for supplementing a vegan diet. It is also environmentally friendly, as fish stocks are protected. It offers an ethical alternative with comparable bioavailability and dosage. Algae oil is certainly a good choice for sustainability and freedom from harmful substances.
If you are interested in non-toxic omega 3 fish oil capsules, we can recommend our FISH OIL OMEGA 3 1000 from the Vitactiv brand here in the Feelgood Shop. Alternatively, you can try our ANTARCTIC CRILL OIL forte from Botanicy.
When to take omega-3 algae oil?
Omega-3 algae oil should ideally be taken with a meal containing fat, as fat improves absorption. Whether in the morning or evening is less important - the decisive factor is regular intake during the supplementation period. If you have a sensitive stomach, it is better to take it after a meal.
Can you overdose on omega 3 algae oil?
Yes, omega-3 algae oil can also be overdosed, which can lead to undesirable side effects. Excessive intake can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea and delayed blood clotting. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) recommends a maximum of 5 g of omega-3 fatty acids per day from food supplements for adults.
The dosages for children and pregnant women are lower and should be adjusted individually.
With our OMEGA 3 ALGA OIL capsules, you as an adult need not fear an overdose, provided you follow our consumption recommendation, which states: Take two capsules daily with sufficient liquid.
Are the contents of the Vitactiv capsules liquid?
Yes, exactly. Our gel capsules contain high-quality, pure algae oil in liquid form.
In which dosage forms can you buy Omega 3 algae oil?
Algae-based vegetable omega-3 is available as a dietary supplement in various dosage forms, including hard capsules, soft gel capsules, gummies and liquid (e.g. drops). Gummies and capsules in their various forms are convenient for on-the-go, while the liquid form is ideal for individual dosages or for mixing into food. A plus point for algae oil capsules: they are a tasteless alternative for anyone who is sensitive to the typical algae oil taste.
Ultimately, the choice of dosage form depends on your personal preferences and wishes. With our OMEGA 3 ALGAE OIL from the Vitactiv brand, we offer you a very good supplement in the form of softgel capsules.
What exactly is Schizochytrium algae?
The microalgae Schizochytrium belongs to the class of thraustochytria, a group of marine microorganisms. This alga thrives in salty environments, especially in coastal areas. It is known for its high content of omega-3 fatty acids, especially DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), and is often used as a plant-based alternative to fish oil.
