Bromelain - the best of pineapple

Probably the most important and most valuable nutrient in pineapple is the enzyme bromelain. It gets its name from the so-called bromeliad plants, to which the pineapple, which is very rich in bromelain, belongs. Around 3,000 years ago, the indigenous peoples on the north coast of South America used pineapples not only as food, but also as a natural remedy for wounds, pain, bruises and swellings of all kinds.
