Have you gone a little overboard again? The meal was rather hearty and more sumptuous than planned? An unpleasant feeling of fullness can be the result, often accompanied by stomach rumbling or abdominal pain. If you are eating in a restaurant or with friends, this can be particularly unpleasant and quick help is needed.
Our new Vitactiv brand BITTER HERB drops can provide the desired relief - taken before or after a meal, the naturally bitter plant and herbal extracts help to aid digestion, relieve stomach and intestinal discomfort and improve general well-being*.
Choline and zinc round off our bitter drops. Both nutrients also support various important metabolic functions.* Our food supplement is vegan, as it does not contain any animal ingredients, and does not contain any sugar.
"Sweet or sour?" Test bitter drops without alcohol
Halloween, Carnival, Easter, Christmas ... no, actually the whole year round - the supply of sweets has exploded in recent decades. And as if that wasn't enough, extra sugar is added everywhere. Although we are aware that most of it is not exactly good for us, we often cannot resist the "sweet temptation". Sometimes we even feel a craving for sweets. Flavor enhancers, glutamates and colorants do the rest to make our stomachs rumble.
In contrast to this oversupply from the industry, natural, valuable bitter substances, such as those contained in our drops, have almost completely disappeared from our food. They have even been deliberately bred out in order to shape food to our taste preferences. What a bitter disappointment! Yet bitter substances have so much to offer ...
The power of bitter substances
Before we delve into the question of what bitter substances are good for, let's first clarify: What are bitter substances anyway?
Bitter substances are produced naturally by many plants to defend themselves against harmful predators. The bitter taste is unpalatable to them, so they prefer to make a quick getaway.
If you consider that the ancient Greek physician and teacher Hippocrates, who lived around 460 BC (!), and the famous Benedictine nun Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179) already knew how to use the power of bitter herbs and plants1, it is hard to explain why this valuable knowledge has been lost over the centuries. At least for us humans! It is known, for example, that sick chimpanzees like to reach for the bitter leaves of the African mjonso tree.2 It has also often been observed that sheep eat the bitter yarrow herb, which they otherwise avoid, to alleviate ailments.2 So why do WE no longer appreciate the power of bitter substances ...?
What bitter substances can offer us
If we initially find a bitter taste hard to get used to, this is probably mainly due to the fact that our taste buds (are allowed to) perceive it so rarely. So please don't let this irritate you - getting used to the "rediscovered" flavor happens very quickly. And then you can take full advantage of these good substances:
Bitter substances
- make our food more digestible
- soothe the gastrointestinal tract
- help against a feeling of fullness after eating
- support the digestive function
- generally ensure a greater sense of well-being
Thanks to the absorption of bitter substances , the digestion of food begins on the tongue. This happens by stimulating the bitter receptors. If these are stimulated by a bitter taste, our organs immediately start producing digestive secretions - starting with salivation.
Bitter drops without alcohol - the natural and gentle way
A little schnapps or espresso after a meal to aid digestion - who hasn't experienced this? But high-proof or caffeinated drinks at any time of day don't have to be! This is where our bitter drops without alcohol come into play. They contain only natural extracts from 14 perfectly balanced bitter herbs and bitter plants:
- Artichoke
- yarrow
- gentian
- bitter orange
- Citrus
- Centaury
- wormwood
- Curcuma
- fennel
- Angelica
- Green cardamom
- Passion flower
- ginger
- Lavender blossom
You can gently support your stomach and intestines with our digestible bitter herbs. Your body will thank you for it.
Bitter drops with high-quality nutrients:
Vitactiv's bitter drops contain essential choline and the valuable trace element zinc.
Choline for fat metabolism*
The vital micronutrient choline transports the fatty acids (triglycerides) from the liver to the places needed in the body. If there is a choline deficiency, the metabolic process is disrupted and more fat is stored in the liver. A so-called "fatty liver" can only detoxify the body to a limited extent and can therefore no longer perform its functions to a sufficient extent. Choline is therefore essential for maintaining a normal fat metabolism and a functioning liver* - which is precisely why it is an important component of our bitter herbs.
Zinc for the metabolism of macronutrients*
The essential trace element zinc can normalize many processes in the body, above all various metabolic functions. It is one of the most important factors in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins - the so-called macronutrients.

When should you take bitters?
You can take bitter drops at different times, depending on your individual needs and desired effects. Here are some recommendations:
1. before meals: You can take the bitter drops about 15 to 30 minutes before your main meals. The bitter substances can help to make food more digestible and optimize digestion. In this way, you can prevent digestive complaints such as flatulence and bloating.
2. after fatty or heavy meals: If you have eaten a high-fat or heavy meal, bitters can act as a natural support to make the digestive process easier for you.
3. for digestive problems: If you suffer from digestive issues such as bloating, heartburn or stomach discomfort, you can use bitter herb drops outside of meals to experience relief.
Which bitter substances are the best?
What the "best" bitters are can vary from person to person, as there are individual preferences and needs. Some popular bitters come from the peels of citrus fruits, artichoke, gentian or centaury. A combination of several bitters can provide broader support for your body. Try our bitter drops to enjoy a balanced blend of high-quality bitters (14 plant and herbal extracts).
How many bitter drops a day?
Our consumption recommendation states that you should take 2 x 20 bitter drops a day. Please make sure that you do not exceed our dosage recommendations.
