Product information "AMINO ACIDS COMPLEX - Tablets"

Amino complex: What do you need amino acids for?

Amino acids are the basic building blocks of proteins, which play an important role in muscle building and muscle maintenance as well as being involved in almost all processes in our body. Humans have 20 proteinogenic amino acids, also known as L-amino acids, of which we can only produce 12 ourselves. The other eight are known as essential and must be supplied regularly through food, similar to most vitamins.

But which foods provide us with the important amino acids?

It is mainly those of animal origin - such as eggs and milk as well as various types of meat and fish. The best vegan sources of protein include soybeans, pulses and cereals. However, it should be noted that plant products in particular do not contain all essential amino acids in equal measure. So it's all about a good mix!

And what happens if there is a deficiency?

If we do not consume enough protein-rich food over the long term, the formation of the body's own functions is not possible without restriction.

These include, among other things

  • energy production
  • muscle building and the regeneration of muscle tissue
  • the regulation of blood sugar levels
  • the renewal of skin cells
  • the function of the immune system
  • the production of enzymes and hormones
  • bone formation
  • Regulation of the cardiovascular system

If you think that you are not consuming enough protein, Vitactiv amino acid tablets or pellets are a great way to supplement your diet.

What essential amino acids are there?

Essential amino acids are those that are vital but cannot be produced by the body itself. We should regularly consume these through protein-rich foods. However, our body must first break down the protein it receives into the individual amino acids. With our complex, which already consists of pure amino acids, this energy expenditure is of course eliminated.

AMINOSÄUREN KOMPLEX contains all eight essential amino acids in optimal proportions:

  1. leucine
  2. valine
  3. isoleucine
  4. lysine
  5. phenylalanine
  6. threonine
  7. tryptophan
  8. methionine

Histidine is another essential amino acid exclusively for infants, which is why it is sometimes referred to as nine essential acids.

Muscle atrophy - why protein supply is so important in old age

Protein intake also plays an increasingly important role with advancing age, as proteins play a decisive role in maintaining the muscles. In senior citizens, a low-protein diet - also due to the frequent, general loss of appetite - combined with physical inactivity often leads to downright muscle atrophy (sarcopenia).

The intake of high-quality protein, which contains the essential amino acids in particular, is now all the more important. L-leucine is considered to be of the greatest importance for muscle maintenance. At 1200 mg per daily intake, L-leucine is the highest dosed amino acid in our complex.

Another advantage of amino acids in the form of food supplements:
They are quickly absorbed by the body without burdening it with additional digestive processes.

A brief excursion into the world of fitness: BCAA supplementation

The so-called BCAA, short for "Branched Chain Amino Acids", are considered to be of great importance in weight training. They comprise the three essential amino acids valine, leucine and isoleucine, which are mainly processed by our body in the muscles, where they play a crucial role in muscle development and regeneration.

They are therefore often supplemented by athletes in the form of protein shakes and protein bars. AMINO ACIDS COMPLEX from Vitactiv is a low-calorie and vegan alternative for all those who value an increased BCAA intake.

As already mentioned, there are also semi-essential and non-essential amino acids that our body can produce itself, but not always in sufficient quantities. Which brings us to the cofactors in our amino acid tablets ...

Amino acid tablets with cofactors: glycine, tyrosine, arginine, taurine

An amino acid complex is only half as good without its cofactors. Although these are not essential amino acids themselves, they are of great importance in supporting the functions of these amino acids in central metabolic processes. They act as key compounds, so to speak, which facilitate the utilization and function of the essential amino acids.

The following is a brief overview for anyone who would like to find out more about the importance of the individual cofactors that are all contained in our complex:

Taurine - organic acid (formed during the breakdown of the amino acids cysteine and methionine): occurs throughout the body and is mainly used to improve performance; as a component of bile acid, it helps to break down dietary fats; makes up around 50 percent of the amino acids found in the heart

Arginine - semi-essential: reacts with oxygen and causes the body to produce nitric oxide, which dilates the blood vessels and thus contributes to improved blood flow

Glycine - non-essential: main amino acid of collagen and thus a component of bones, teeth, skin and joints; involved in the synthesis of creatine, which in turn is important for the provision of energy in the muscles

Tyrosine - non-essential: involved in the synthesis of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, noradrenaline and adrenaline; important for the production of thyroid hormones

Speaking of the thyroid gland - what amino acids have to do with it

Butterfly-shaped, it nestles against the windpipe below the larynx - our thyroid gland. Without it, everything in our body would go haywire, because the thyroid gland influences almost our entire organism through its hormone production - the cardiovascular system, many important metabolic processes, sweat and sebaceous gland production, brain activity and also the psyche.

In order to support its function, it also requires certain amino acids. The amino acid tyrosine in particular has a direct influence on the production of the thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and the resulting triiodothyronine (T3). If this complex cycle becomes unbalanced, it can lead to hypothyroidism, such as the widespread autoimmune disease Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

If you think you could benefit from targeted nutrients, discuss your individual intake with your doctor in advance.

B vitamins for amino acid metabolism and as energy suppliers

In addition to the eight essential amino acids and four important cofactors, Vitactiv's AMINOSÄUREN KOMPLEX also contains two supplementary B vitamins: Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12. Both are real power vitamins, as they contribute to normal energy metabolism and reduce tiredness and fatigue*.

Vitamin B12:

Vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, is also involved in the formation of red blood cells, which are responsible for transporting oxygen throughout the body.* If all organs are well supplied with oxygen, we can also be more productive mentally and physically.

Vitamin B6:

Vitamin B6 is the most important coenzyme in amino acid metabolism. Vitamin B6 is already present as a metabolically active form in our Amino Complex: Pyridoxal-5-phosphate or PALP or PLP for short. PLP is of crucial importance for cysteine synthesis. In this two-stage conversion process, homocysteine is converted into the degradation product cysteine. If homocysteine is not sufficiently converted and broken down, the homocysteine concentration in the blood eventually becomes too high, which is associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular disease (heart attacks, strokes).

However, vitamin B6 is also involved in glycogen metabolism* Glycogen is a complex carbohydrate stored in the body that is released when needed.

Glycogen in the liver, for example, plays a central role in the regulation of blood sugar levels. Muscle glycogen is primarily used to supply energy to the muscles, especially during physical activity.

Now that you know how important amino acids are for numerous bodily functions and our organs, you may be wondering whether you should also take amino acids as a dietary supplement. The best question to ask yourself is: Am I getting enough protein per day? If not, your body may be lacking essential amino acids.

With our vegan amino acid tablets, you can play it safe in many respects!

You get:

  • All eight essential amino acids in an optimally balanced ratio (important: a one-sided intake of a particular amino acid runs the risk of displacing other important amino acids).

Are amino acids good for building muscle?

Amino acids are the basic building blocks of proteins. These in turn are the basic building blocks of muscles and play a crucial role in the process of muscle building. For this reason, athletes are advised to increase their protein intake in order to increase muscle mass.

The most important reason lies in muscle protein synthesis:

  1. After (strength) training, the so-called muscle protein synthesis is stimulated. In order to repair and strengthen damaged muscle fibers, the body produces new muscle proteins and it is precisely this process that is responsible for muscle growth. Amino acids are needed to repair and build new muscle tissue.
  2. Proteins provide the nitrogen required for muscle synthesis. A positive nitrogen balance is necessary so that the body can build more muscle tissue than it breaks down.

To boost your muscle growth, you therefore need to consume more protein than your body breaks down during exercise.

Which foods have the most amino acids?

Eating protein-rich foods is a good way to maintain your supply of essential amino acids. This is not quite so easy for vegans, as the majority is found in animal sources. As most plant-based protein sources do not contain all the essential amino acids in the right amounts, you should make sure you have a good combination to meet your needs.

General good sources of protein are

  • Milk
  • eggs
  • Chicken, beef and pork
  • Salmon, tuna, seafood
  • Soy superfoods such as soybeans, tempeh and edamame
  • Quinoa and cereals
  • Pulses such as lentils, chickpeas and beans
  • Almonds, walnuts and chia seeds

What is the difference between essential amino acids and non-essential amino acids?

There are 20 amino acids in the human body. Eight of these are essential amino acids (EAA), i.e. the body cannot produce them itself, but must be supplied with food. These are: Leucine, isoleucine, valine, lysine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, methionine, whereby the first three also form the so-called BCAAs.

The two amino acids arginine and histidine are considered semi-essential, i.e. the body can produce them itself, but in certain situations or phases of life they may not be produced in sufficient quantities. Histidine is considered essential for infants.

The ten non-essential amino acids, which are produced by the body itself, include alanine, asparagine, aspartic acid, cysteine, glutamine, glutamic acid, glycine, proline, serine and tyrosine. However, they are not less important, as they are involved in amino acid metabolism in the form of a "precursor".

Is taurine vegan?

Yes - we do not use any animal ingredients in AMINOSÄUREN KOMPLEX, so it is 100% vegan.

You may also be familiar with taurine from energy drinks or energy capsules. In combination with caffeine, it is said to serve a wakefulness and performance-enhancing purpose. In fact, taurine was extracted from the bile of oxen at the beginning of the 19th century. But that is now a thing of the past. The nutrient has long been produced synthetically. The fact that taurine comes from bull urine or bull testicles is nothing more than a myth.
