The "mineral of life"

Magnesium is an indispensable mineral for our organism. This is because it performs vital tasks relating to muscles, bones, nerves, psyche and energy metabolism. Magnesium also helps to reduce tiredness and fatigue. If the body is supplied with too little magnesium, this can lead to health problems. In order to supply the body with sufficient magnesium, magnesium can be purchased as a dietary supplement.
If we lack this mineral, various signs can become noticeable. The following symptoms are typical of a magnesium deficiency:
  • Tiredness
  • Weakness and exhaustion
  • Muscle cramps and/or muscle twitching
  • Circulatory disorders
  • Cold hands and feet
  • Tingling in hands and feet
  • Restlessness and irritability
  • palpitations
  • headaches
  • Pain in the shoulder, neck and back areas
If you experience one or more symptoms, this may indicate a magnesium deficiency. This can happen particularly quickly if you do a lot of sport, are under a lot of physical and mental strain and drink too little water. Our recommendation: the particularly high-quality mineral complex in CALCIUM + MAGNESIUM + ZINC tablets.
You can cover your magnesium requirements with a balanced diet. Provided you eat a healthy diet every day. The following foods, for example, are particularly rich in magnesium:
  • Bananas
  • broccoli
  • Potatoes
  • Wholemeal bread
  • Legumes
  • nuts
  • Sunflower seeds
Very important: drink plenty of water! Mineral water and drinking water contain many minerals, including magnesium. However, the concentration of magnesium varies from water to water.
According to the DGE (German Society for Nutrition), the daily requirement for magnesium is 300-400 mg.1 An increased requirement may exist in certain circumstances:
  • Pregnancy
  • stress
  • Unbalanced diet
  • Diet
  • Diseases such as diabetes, gluten intolerance (coeliac disease), diseases of the digestive tract and kidneys can cause a disturbance in magnesium absorption.
  • Large amounts of alcohol worsen the magnesium balance in the body.2
  • Side effects of medication such as dehydration tablets, antibiotics or chemotherapy are also factors for a disturbed magnesium balance.

Magnesium supplements can easily compensate for possible deficiencies. But what should you look out for? Which magnesium is best? Our advice: Always take products with natural, organic magnesium. Many preparations only contain artificial, synthetic magnesium. This is not well absorbed by the body and most of it is excreted unused. Basically, our body absorbs natural substances better and can also utilize them more effectively.

An excellent combination product with natural minerals and vitamins is CAL & MAG & D3 capsules - these are capsules with magnesium plus calcium and vitamin D3.
