Anyone concerned with a healthy diet will inevitably come across the term acidosis. This is when the pH value in the blood falls below the normal value of 7.35 to 7.45. The main cause is an unbalanced diet: an excess of acids occurs, especially after eating protein-rich animal foods such as meat, sausage, eggs and cheese.1 It is therefore advisable to include as many alkaline foods such as fruit and vegetables in your diet as possible, as well as alkaline-forming minerals such as potassium, magnesium and calcium.2
If your mineral intake is not sufficient, you can supplement with MINERAL LIFE Advance, for example. The alkaline multi-mineral complex with "Aquamin" contains all essential minerals and trace elements for the body.
What acidifies the body?
A diet with too much protein-rich food such as meat, sausage, milk, dairy products and fish, fast food, ready-made products, pastries and baked goods, sweets, alcohol, nicotine, soft drinks, excessive sport and stress over-acidify the body. Acidosis, i.e. over-acidification of the body, can result in chronic tiredness and sluggishness, blemished, oily skin, dental problems, gastrointestinal complaints, muscle tension or headaches. If acidosis continues, it can lead to diseases such as osteoporosis or diabetes. A pH test can quickly and easily determine whether your body is already over-acidified.
Which foods are alkaline?
Overacidified? Then a change in diet with a focus on alkaline foods and stress reduction can help. Alkaline foods contain minerals such as potassium, magnesium, calcium and sodium. These include most vegetables and fruit (even if they taste sour), mushrooms, herbs, sprouts and seeds. Pulses and potatoes are filling and rich in vitamins, minerals and protein. This also applies to the potato-like Jerusalem artichoke tuber.
Spinach is also particularly recommended. It contains many alkaline minerals such as potassium and magnesium. Tip for a perfect alkaline start: Mix a muesli with almonds, walnuts, linseed, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds and tigernut flakes.
In addition: Zinc not only improves the immune system, but also influences the activity of the enzyme carbonic anhydrase, which plays an important role in the alkaline balance.
Zinc therefore contributes to a normal acid-base metabolism. If a balanced diet does not provide enough zinc, the dietary supplement ZINK 25 mg can help to cover the requirement.
