Changing nutrient requirements from 50 plus
As we get older, our body needs fewer and fewer calories, but the need for vitamins, minerals and trace elements does NOT decrease in the same way. For some vitamins and minerals, a higher daily intake is even recommended for people aged 50 and over. MULTI 50+ takes this changed requirement into account so that you can create a good basis for the daily supply of the necessary vital substances.
This is because up to two thirds of all women and men in Germany over the age of 50 suffer from some form of malnutrition, of which vitamin deficiency is the most common phenomenon. Vitamin B deficiency is particularly common in old age.
What does science say about people's vitamin requirements as they get older?
Various studies have shown that an undersupply of vitamins, minerals and trace elements is not a harmless phenomenon, but that a vitamin B12 deficiency in particular can have serious consequences. Among other things, it is suspected that the course of dementia can be negatively influenced by a vitamin B12 deficiency. Many other physical impairments can also be explained by an inadequate intake of the various vitamins.
But good to know: Vitamin and nutrient deficiencies don't have to be. In addition to a healthy and balanced diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables, taking special multivitamin supplements can also be a useful support for the body in old age.
Vitamins from 50: you're well supplied with MULTI 50+
The MULTI 50+ multivitamin capsules contain many, many vitamins, minerals and trace elements from A-Z that provide your body with exactly what it needs in old age. Vitamin D, for example, together with magnesium and phosphorus, contributes to the maintenance of normal bones. This is important because bone density decreases with age. Bones become more porous, which significantly increases the risk of fractures. Women in particular often suffer from decreasing bone strength during the menopause and should take care to maintain their bone substance.
The multivitamin supplement has many other benefits due to its ingredients. The well-known vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal vision, vitamin B1 supports heart function. Magnesium contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels, while the trace element chromium promotes normal blood sugar levels.
For many people over the age of 50, it is important to remain mentally fit and active. Vitactiv's vitamin and mineral complex also offers the right nutrients and vital substances for this. Pantothenic acid, also known as vitamin B5, contributes to normal mental performance. Vitamin C and vitamin B12 support normal mental function and also reduce tiredness and fatigue.
Vitamin C in particular is a real super vitamin, as it strengthens the immune system and contributes to normal collagen formation for normal blood vessel function, normal cartilage function and normal skin function.
As you can see, with the MULTI 50+ multivitamin capsules from Vitactiv you are ideally equipped for the second half of life.
Why is a vitamin deficiency more likely after 50?
A vitamin deficiency can develop in different ways. For seniors over 70, chewing and swallowing difficulties are often a reason for an unbalanced diet. However, indigestion, loss of appetite and diseases of the stomach or intestines can also lead to an inadequate supply of vitamins and this can also affect people under the age of 70.
In addition, older people have an increased need for vitamins after operations or illnesses, for example, but cannot compensate for this through their daily diet alone. What's more, taking medication is often the cause of deficiency symptoms, as laxatives and many other medicines can impair the absorption of vitamins.
How does a vitamin deficiency affect the body?
There is a wide range of deficiency symptoms caused by an insufficient supply of nutrients. Loss of appetite, fatigue, tiredness, lack of concentration and dizziness can be the first signs.
In the long term, vitamin deficiency can lead to a number of health problems such as osteoporosis, muscle weakness and depression. In the early stages, such a deficiency often remains undetected, as the effects are too unspecific and are often not given enough attention. Therefore, any small changes in appearance such as pale skin, hair loss or dry skin should be taken seriously.
It is best not to let deficiency symptoms affect your quality of life in the first place. We have already told you what you can do about a vitamin deficiency - apart from eating a healthy diet.

Is your head causing you stress?
Like a thunderstorm in your head, sometimes sudden, sometimes gradual ...
If more than just a "little headache" restricts your everyday life, it can be a real challenge in the long term.
Many sufferers describe an increased sensitivity to light (photophobia) and sound (phonophobia). Visual disturbances with flickering lights or zigzag lines can also occur - technically known as anaura1.
The causes have not been conclusively clarified, but are often associated with the nervous system.2,3,4 Researchers assume that various processes in the brain are out of sync - like an orchestra in which everyone is suddenly playing out of sync.
A drop in serotonin levels in the brain (serotonin is a neurotransmitter), which can lead to inflammatory dilation of the blood vessels, is also being discussed as a cause.
Possible immediate triggers are
Stress - emotional or physical pressure throws the nervous system out of balance
Hormone fluctuations - especially in women around their period or during the menopause (keyword "oestrogen levels")5
Lack of sleep or an irregular sleep rhythm
Certain foods - such as red wine, cheese or chocolate
Changes in the weather or bright light - sensitive head, strong reaction
MIGRA KOMPLEX from Vitactiv, the natural 5-in-1 formula
MIGRA KOMPLEX combines valuable extracts of feverfew flowers and ginger root with magnesium, vitamin B2 and coenzyme Q10. Find out more about the ingredients in the following sections ...
Feverfew: love for the stressed head
Feverfew sounds a bit like grandmother's herb garden - and in fact it has a long tradition that goes far, far beyond grandmother's time. The Greek physician and pharmacologist Dioscorides already mentioned the herb in his De Materia Medica from the 1st century AD. And it is very likely that the medieval abbess Hildegard von Bingen also described the plant in her herbology in the 12th century - albeit without mentioning it directly by name.
At the center of interest: the parthenolide
Tanacetum parthenium - the botanical name for feverfew - is an aromatic, fragrant plant with white flowers and a yellow center that looks a bit like wild chamomile. What makes it special is a specific ingredient: parthenolide. This bitter plant substance has it all - because the plant produces it to protect itself against predators. It also attracts attention in research. There it is being investigated with regard to a possible relaxing effect on the blood vessels in the head*.
MIGRA KOMPLEX from Vitactiv contains highly concentrated feverfew flower extract standardized to a very high parthenolide content of 0.8 percent. Many other suppliers only have a content of around 0.2 percent.
Ginger, the traditional tuber from the Far East
Ginger originally comes from South East Asia and is now cultivated in many tropical regions of the world. The most valuable part of ginger is the rhizome, i.e. the ginger root, which grows underground. Its use can be traced back to ancient China and India - a tradition that is still alive today, e.g. in the Indian natural science of Ayurveda.
The most valuable substance is gingerol
Ginger root contains numerous nutrients - including gingerol, which is considered the most important bioactive ingredient in ginger. Gingerol belongs to the group of secondary plant substances known as phenols and is also responsible for the typical pungent taste of ginger. But gingerol can do even more - and is therefore the subject of many scientific studies.
MIGRA KOMPLEX contains 200 mg of highly concentrated ginger extract with standardized 5 percent gingerol per daily dose (equivalent to 10 mg per daily intake).
Magnesium and riboflavin - a powerful duo for nerves and energy
If certain areas of the brain, especially the brain stem and cerebral cortex, show increased excitability, this can lead to everyday stimuli - such as light, sounds or smells - being perceived excessively.
But what causes this hyperexcitability? Research assumes that imbalances in energy production - particularly in the mitochondria, the "power plants of the cells" - lead to this hypersensitivity of the nerve cells. The brain is then unable to supply enough energy in response to stimuli, including stress or hormonal fluctuations during menstruation or the menopause, and "overheats", so to speak.
MIGRA KOMPLEX combines magnesium and riboflavin
The mineral magnesium and riboflavin - also known as vitamin B2 - both contribute to the normal functioning of the nervous system and energy metabolism.* They can therefore help to keep the processing of stimuli in balance.
In MIGRA KOMPLEX we use high-quality magnesium bisglycinate, which can be optimally absorbed and utilized by your body. It is also very gentle on the stomach. The riboflavin is present as bioactive sodium riboflavin 5'-phosphate (R5P-Na for short), which no longer has to undergo any conversion processes after ingestion and is directly available to the body.
Coenzyme Q10 turns the duo into a trio
Coenzyme Q10, also known as ubiquinone, is a nutrient that our body can produce itself - primarily in the liver, but also in the kidneys, pancreas and heart.
The combination of Q10, magnesium and riboflavin in particular is being discussed as very promising. This is shown by a placebo-controlled double-blind study in which 130 migraine sufferers between the ages of 18 and 65 took part.6
The supplementation of Q10, magnesium and vitamin B2 led to the following results in the study:
"The number of migraine days per month decreased"
"The intensity of migraine pain was significantly reduced in the supplement group compared to the placebo group"
Our Migra capsules contain plant-based coenzyme Q10 and are therefore also suitable for vegetarian or vegan diets.

What food supplements do vegans and vegetarians need?
Do you abstain from meat and mainly dairy products or do you eat a completely vegan diet and want to provide your body with important nutrients every day? Then our VEGAN ESSENTIALS food supplement from Vitactiv offers you exactly that - simply, quickly and easily with just 1 capsule a day!
Would you like to get to know our 13-in-1 complex as a supplement to your vegan diet? We'll tell you what's inside ...
The key vitamin for vegans: vitamin B12 - in high doses with us
As a vegan, you will probably know that vitamin B12 is only found in sufficient quantities in foods of animal origin. Strictly speaking, this vitamin is not produced by plants at all.
If you are now thinking that there are algae with a significant B12 content, you are of course right. In fact, the vitamin is not produced by the algae themselves, but by microorganisms that live on the plant or in the soil.
Most vegans supplement with vitamin B12 because it plays a key role in the formation of red blood cells.
for the formation of red blood cells
for the function of the nervous system
in energy metabolism
in cell division
in the breakdown process of homocysteine - a high homocysteine level can be a risk factor for cardiovascular disease
VEGAN ESSENTIALS contains 500 µg of high-dose methylcobalamin per capsule , the bioactive form of B12 - directly available and particularly easy to utilize.
This means that our vitamin B12 is produced in a natural fermentation process. This initially produces B12 in the form of cyanocobalamin. But we go one step further and convert it enzymatically into the significantly more bioavailable methylcobalamin so that your body doesn't have to do this for you first, but can use it directly.
The other B vitamins for your daily needs
We have now explained that vitamin B12 supplementation is particularly important for vegans and vegetarians. But there are other vitamins that can fall by the wayside in a purely plant-based diet - first and foremost the group of other B vitamins ...
In our body's energy metabolism, it is essentially the B vitamins that are involved in the utilization of food. They have to be constantly supplied to the body as they are all water-soluble and can therefore hardly be stored. To ensure that they are not missing at a crucial point in your metabolism, we have combined all the relevant B's in VEGAN ESSENTIALS.
Thiamine (vitamin B1) for your energy metabolism
Thiamine helps you to convert carbohydrates into energy and also supports the heart and nervous system.* If you do a lot of sport or physically strenuous work, your need for vitamin B1 may be increased. This also applies if you consume a lot of cereals.
Riboflavin (vitamin B2) for your blood cells and more
Riboflavin also plays a major role for energy and nerves. But this vitamin is even more versatile. It also contributes to the normal formation of red blood cells and supports cell protection, vision, skin and mucous membranes.* Vegans are often undersupplied, as sources rich in vitamin B2 such as dairy products are not available.
Niacin (vitamin B3) for nerves & psyche
Vitamin B3 occurs in nature in two forms: as directly available niacin and as tryptophan, which must first be converted into niacin in the body. To produce 1 mg of niacin, around 60 mg of tryptophan is required, which is already present in lower quantities in plant protein sources.
A pronounced niacin deficiency can lead to irritability, tiredness and skin problems.
Pyridoxine (vitamin B6) - the all-rounder of the metabolism
This vitamin has several of your metabolic functions under control:1. protein metabolism,*2. glycogen metabolism,* in which glucose is converted into glycogen, which helps to maintain normal blood sugar levels, among other things3. homocysteine metabolism,* which in turn is important for cell health
Biotin, your "beauty all-rounder"
Biotin is often rightly referred to as the "beauty vitamin", as it is known for its positive effects on skin, hair and nails.* So when it comes to beauty, we benefit threefold!Plant-based foods do contain biotin, but often in smaller quantities.
Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) - your wake-up vitamin
With pantothenic acid, the fatigue monster inside you can be tackled! The vitamin supports mental performance, helps to reduce fatigue and plays a key role in energy metabolism.
So with B vitamins, you're well supplied. But what else is important?
Your eye vitamin A as vegan retinyl palmitate
It is the crucial vitamin for the eyes and vision: vitamin A.*Fruit and vegetables contain a range of provitamin A carotenoids, which can be converted into vitamin A in the body to varying degrees. Nevertheless , vegetarians and vegans should always keep an eye on maintaining an adequate vitamin A status.
In the form of retinyl palmitate, as contained in our vegan capsules, vitamin A is already bioactive and therefore particularly highly bioavailable.
Good for your blood: iron
As an important component of red blood cells (haemoglobin), iron is essential for transporting oxygen in the blood, but also for cell formation, a functioning immune system and cognitive performance*.
But not all iron is the same ...
As vegans, we have to face the fact that plant-based iron (so-called "non-heme iron") is simply less easily absorbed than bivalent "heme iron" of animal origin.
With the iron bisglycinate in our capsules, you can easily ensure your supply. This is a vegan form of iron with the highest bioavailability. And as it is well known that twice is better, the vitamin B2 contained in the capsules also contributes to normal iron metabolism*.
Your plus in zinc, because phytates can inhibit absorption
Zinc is a trace element that contributes to many important tasks in the body:
to the normal function of the immune system*
to protect the cells from "oxidative stress "*
to a normal metabolism of macronutrients*
to the maintenance of normal skin, hair and nails*
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 50% of all people are deficient in zinc. A vegetarian and vegan diet can also contribute to a zinc deficiency, as many plant-based foods contain phytic acid, which makes it more difficult to absorb zinc.
VEGAN ESSENTIALS helps you to reliably cover your daily zinc requirement - in the form of organic zinc bisglycinate, the zinc compound with the highest bioavailability.
Your additional trio of minerals: selenium, iodine and calcium
Let's start with selenium, the all-rounder of minerals or, more precisely, trace elements. This is of great importance for cell protection against oxidative stress, for the immune system, for the thyroid gland and also for the growth of hair and fingernails*.
Our vegan capsules contain pure sodium selenite, which can be easily absorbed and, unlike organic selenium, does not accumulate in the body to increase selenium levels.
The second element in the group is iodine for healthy thyroid function,* which can also be absorbed by eating algae as well as fish. But do you know exactly how much of it is in which algae? You certainly don't want to risk a long-term overdose of iodine. Our capsules provide you with a safe, controlled amount.
Our trio is completed by calcium, the building block for healthy growth and a stable physique. And that doesn't just apply to children!
A functioning musculoskeletal system basically requires two things:robust bones and good muscles.
Many women and men have problems with their bones or joints at some point and suffer from osteoporosis or osteoarthritis, for example.1
VEGAN ESSENTIALS helps you to reliably cover your daily requirement of valuable calcium without dairy products.
